Sept. Thai Gem and Jewelry Show Postponed Until 2017
The Thai Gem and Jewelry Traders Association said it is delaying the inaugural Thailand Gems and Jewelry Fair because of a dispute over the venue.
Bangkok--The Thai Gem and Jewelry Traders Association announced this week that it is postponing the inaugural Thailand Gems and Jewelry Fair.
The show initially was slated to be held Sept. 7 to 11, but show organizers said that due to a dispute that arose regarding the event venue, the TGJTA wasn’t able to secure the necessary space to organize the show within the timeframe.
The TGJTA said it is shifting its focus now to begin planning and securing another space so the show can take place in 2017 instead.
Further information regarding date and location of the event will be released at a later date.
Deposits on advanced reservations will be returned to anyone who paid one; they can be claimed by reaching out to the TGJTA after Aug. 1.
“Please know that the TGJTA is absolutely disappointed in this change, and we offer our most heartfelt apologies to all members who have supported us in this endeavor,” the association said in a statement. “We thank you for your support and hope for your understanding in this unfortunate matter.”
The Thai Gem and Jewelry Traders Association organized the last 34 editions of the Bangkok Gems & Jewelry Fair, which takes place in September.
However, the Bangkok show now is being organized by the Department of International Trade Promotion, Ministry of Commerce so the TGJTA decided to put together another show, the Thailand Gems & Jewelry Fair (the one that has been postponed). The Bangkok Gems & Jewelry Fair still is slated to run Sept. 7 to 11.
The Thai show is the second jewelry trade show to be postponed in recent weeks.
Earlier this month, SmartWork Media announced that the 2017 Smart show, scheduled to take place in Chicago from April 1 to 3, has been “postponed” until 2018 due to earlier-than-normal dates and venue scheduling conflicts.
