Carol Young Departs as Head of Atlanta Jewelry Show
She’ll be replaced by Libby Brown, the show’s assistant executive director.
Atlanta--After 20 years, Carol Young is leaving the Atlanta Jewelry Show.
She will be replaced by Libby Brown, who is being promoted to executive director.
Steve Binder, president of the board of the Southern Jewelry Traveler’s Association, the organization that produces the show, said Thursday that Young “has some career experiences that she’d like to pursue now,” adding that she stayed on “a bit longer” than intended in order to see the show through its recent relaunch.
The show had a new floor plan and a new education program, which was headed by Cindy Chandler, this spring. It also had a new hosted buyer program called “Experience Atlanta,” which was launched in fall 2016 with the goal of attracting more Midwestern buyers to the southern show.
“Carol goes out on a high note,” Binder said. “She said that she leaves knowing the show is in capable hands, pointed in the right direction. We truly wish her the best.”
Brown steps into the role of executive director of the show after working for 17 years as assistant executive director.
“I owe Carol a huge debt of gratitude for all she taught me, and for the fun we have had working together,” she said. “The team and I are determined to continue the exciting changes that she initiated in the past year. We are really going to miss her.”
The next Atlanta Jewelry Show is scheduled to take place Aug. 12 to 14 at the Cobb Galleria Centre.
