Tacori is the first corporate partner of Shine Together, a new organization that wants to empower and support women by shining a light on their accomplishments.
New York--Tacori is partnering with an organization whose goal is to empower women.

Shine Together is a new venture founded by alumni of the successful San Francisco start-up TaskRabbit—Leah Busque, TaskRabbit founder and now general partner at Fuel Capital, and Jamie Viggiano, a brand consultant and TaskRabbit’s former vice president of marketing.

It it is focused on affecting positive change through sharing women’s stories, fostering an environment of mentorship and networking and dedicating resources and funding to organizations that provide women and girls with opportunities worldwide.

Shine Together is inspired by “shine theory,” a term coined by journalist Ann Friedman and strategist Aminatou Sow in 2013, which asserts that shining a light on women’s achievements and accomplishments will spread success.

Tacori is Shine Together’s first corporate partner, and COO and Design Director Nadine Arzerounian and Senior Vice President of Marketing Michelle Adorjan are serving as advisors to the project.

The venture has launched an online platform to shine a light on women’s stories. Its first group of women highlighted are Valerie Jarett, former senior advisor to President Obama and now co-chair of the United States of Women; Nastia Liukin, a five-time Olympic medalist; Ann Miura-Ko, called “one of the most powerful women in startups” by Forbes and an early investor in Lyft, TaskRabbit and more; and Selina Tobaccowala, entrepreneur and former president and chief technology officer at SurveyMonkey.

Each of these women share their stories on ShineTogether’s website and nominate another woman for her contributions and achievements.

“Shine Together is committed to the idea that everyone can shine on each other to make the future brighter,” Busque said in a press release. “We recognize that success is limitless; the more it is celebrated and recognized, the more it will inspire future success.”

Jarrett commented, “I’m so excited by what the Shine Together team is doing. Shining is important everywhere. It just feels better to be in an environment where people want to see you win, want to see you thrive, want to figure out how they can help you and where you want to figure out how you can help them. It’s a healthier environment, and people excel because people are supporting them and looking out for them.”
