Pure Earth’s 2022 Pure Gold Jewelry Auction Is Open Now
More than 30 designers donated pieces to raise funds for the nonprofit’s work against mercury pollution.
The nonprofit organization works to reduce disease-causing pollution and clean up toxic hot spots in low- and middle-income countries, in part through its global mercury program focusing on artisanal and small-scale gold mining communities around the world.
To help raise awareness about the impact of mercury pollution, the struggles of artisanal and small-scale gold miners, and the solutions being implemented in the Amazon rainforest and other areas, Pure Earth has again partnered with several jewelry designers.
The 2022 Pure Earth Pure Gold collection features pieces from more than 30 jewelry designers, created using Fairmined gold donated by Hoover and Strong.
Those participating include names like Bario Neal, Brilliant Earth, Dana Bronfman, Melissa Joy Manning, Mina Stones, Toby Pomeroy, Wwake, and more.
“The Pure Earth Pure Gold collection is not just beautiful, it is purposeful. It shows that gold can be mined without toxic mercury and without the destruction of lives and our natural resources,” she said.
“The incredible jewelers collaborating with Pure Earth are a key part of the solution. Their work on this collection should inspire us all, just as Mother Nature inspires me, to work for a better world.”
All items in the auction can be seen online here.
It closes the evening of Oct. 17, during the Pure Earth Benefit Bash at The Edison Ballroom in New York City.
Josh Mailman of Serious Change Investments and Beth Gerstein of Brilliant Earth will both be honored during the event.
Tickets are still available.
Pure Earth has collaborated with jewelry designers and others in the industry to raise awareness about mercury poisoning and gold mining challenges since 2017.
Previous Pure Gold collections have featured members of the Model Mafia, model Molly Bair, and Colombian actress, model, and philanthropist Taliana Vargas.
Last year’s collection featured actresses Kathrine Narducci and Gianna Palminteri, comedian Tara Cannistraci, and Broadway dancer Brittany Conigatti.
