Platinum Guild International Launches E-commerce Platform

New York—Platinum Guild International has announced the launch of its online store ahead of the holiday season.
The online store will be a permanent feature of PGI’s website, a spokesperson confirmed to National Jeweler Thursday, but it will operate like a pop-up shop, featuring pieces from different designers and brands on a rotating basis.
PGI recently opened its first platinum jewelry-dedicated showroom in Shenzhen, China, employing a similar method of updating its windows and displays every month.
The ecommerce platform was created to give designers a venue to showcase their platinum jewelry directly to consumers interested in purchasing online, PGI president Jenny Luker said in a press release.
“By creating a destination that will showcase the best of platinum jewelry, in a range of design and price, we are assuring the continued growth and demand for years to come,” she said.
New York-based jewelry Michael Bondanza will be one of the first designers featured on the site, introducing a 19-piece collection designed with the platform in mind.
“Through this pop-up, we will ‘hear’ from today’s consumers about what they are wearing and collecting, thus establishing those Bondanza-created wearable pieces destined to become classics,” brand owner Geri Bondanza said in a press release.
Ranging in price from $1,000 to $4,400, the collection includes earrings, pendants and stackable bands, and it will be available through Valentine’s Day.
PGI said it will add additional designers to its e-commerce platform in 2020, depending on the success of the holiday season.
