VDB Adds Lab-Grown Diamonds to its Platform
Eleven lab-grown diamond suppliers are taking part in sourcing and trading app Virtual Diamond Boutique, with more than 4,800 stones currently available.
New York—Virtual Diamond Boutique, a sourcing and trading app created for the jewelry industry, has added a category to its product offerings: lab-grown diamonds.
The company said the lab-grown stones will be separated from the mined diamonds on the app but will still offer the visual and technical search, buy, hold and memo features of the VDB platform.
When users open the app, they will now see four categories: diamonds, colored gemstones (added in March 2017), finished jewelry (added in June 2018) and lab-grown diamonds.
To date, 11 lab-grown diamond suppliers have signed up with the trading app, and more than 4,800 lab-grown stones are available on the platform with high-quality photography and 360-degree views.
VDB President Tanya Nisguretsky said the company made the decision to add the product category because “so many retailers are offering this product category to an increasingly interested consumer. And we want to help our customer base make thoughtful, informed decisions about the products they offer.”
The company said the new lab-grown search means retailers now can offer thousands of more items to their customers from a vetted list of lab-grown dealers.
