New York--Designer Alex Woo has crafted two pendants inspired by Disney’s new film Bears, which is narrated by actor John C. Reilly and opens April 18.
The pendant, which features a mother bear and her cubs, is available in sterling silver or 14-karat gold and will retail between $218 and $1,098.
It will be available on the Alex Woo website in April as well as in specialty stores, and 20 percent of proceeds will support the National Park Foundation, the official charity of America’s national parks.
The movie Bears, by Disney Nature, showcases a year in the life of a bear family, including two cubs, growing up in Alaska. It begins at the end of the bears’ winter-long hibernation and follows them through spring and summer, searching for food during the salmon run and staying safe from rival bears and predators.
This is the third collaboration between Woo and Disney for one of its films. She also designed jewelry for the African Cats and Chimpanzee films, released in 2011 and 2012, respectively.
“I was really touched by the universal symbolism and significance of the relationship between mother and child (in Bears),” Woo said. “In an effort to help preserve our national parks, I designed a special pendant that captures the true beauty and essence of American wildlife.”
