From Couture: New from Anahita
At the Couture show designer Anahita Stein introduced her new 18-karat yellow gold pieces that were inspired by a trip to Southeast Asia.
“Mostly I find inspiration in art and architecture, especially in graphic motifs, tile patterns, medallions … any fluid form and sculptural element, I see potential to redefine and reimagine it in a piece of jewelry,” she said.
Stein said her recent trip to Southeast Asia provided plenty of visual interest and inspiration for her current pieces.
“I’ve incorporated the indigenous materials of ebony wood and buffalo horn in with moonstones and cognac diamonds to create a collection that is warm, earthy, a bit mysterious and sensual,” she said.
Stein always has always been interested in design, from furniture and interior design to sculpture and jewelry. She has a decade of experience in the architecture industry, and “wanted to apply what I learned about design and functional details toward my passion for jewelry and create small-scale, beautiful, wearable objects.”
She added that she loves the more immediate gratification of creating a jewelry design and seeing it realized in a matter of weeks.
