Atlanta--The winners of the 11th annual Savannah College of Art and Design Student Design Competition were announced at the Atlanta Jewelry Show on March 9.
The annual competition recognizes outstanding work by SCAD's School of Design students. By hosting the contest at the show, students, some of whom aspire to be future jewelry designers, are able to be a look inside the commercial jewelry industry.
The first- and second-place winners in each category are as follows.
Rings--Mint Kaewkoon, first place; Dian Yu, second place
Brooches--Josh Bass, first place; Yu, second place
Bracelets--Bass, first place; Chelsea Williams, second place
Necklaces--Jasmin Pena, first place; Erik Berry, second place
Judges evaluating the entries included Barbara Heinrich of Barbara Heinrich Studio, Peter Embarrato of Topaz Gallery in Atlanta and SCAD alumnus Liaung Chung Yen of Liaung Chung Yen Designs, who won the first SCAD Student Design Competition in 2003.
Co-sponsored by Stuller, The Atlanta Jewelry Show took place from March 8 to 10 at the Cobb Galleria Centre, located just outside Atlanta.
The next edition of the Atlanta Jewelry Show is slated for Aug. 9 to 11.
