GIA Reports Can Now Include Branded Cut Names
The names of proprietary cuts can now appear on the lab’s diamond grading reports, as long as the submitter meets the program’s requirement.
Carlsbad, Calif.--The Gemological Institute of America announced it has launched a proprietary cut program that will allow branded diamond cut names to be included on select diamond grading reports.
The grading reports for diamonds submitted under the program will include the diamond cut’s brand name—some of which include the Leo from Leo Schachter Diamonds, the Dream diamond from Hearts On Fire, Christopher Designs’ Crisscut, the Ashoka from William Goldberg and the Crown Jubilee diamonds from Bernard Nacht & Company—along with the diamond shape and cutting style description.
Clients who want to submit diamonds and have the proprietary cut grade included on their reports must provide supporting documentation, including diamond facet arrangement.
There is no additional charge for this program.
A sample report showing how the cut name will appear can be seen below (Centauri is not an actual proprietary cut; it is just included on the below sample report as an illustration.)
For more information, GIA clients are advised to contact their customer service representative.
