World Diamond Council Looking for New Leader
The organization that represents the diamond industry in the Kimberley Process has begun its search to replace Executive Director Pat Syvrud, who is leaving next year.
New York--The organization that represents the diamond industry in the Kimberley Process has begun its search to replace Executive Director Pat Syvrud, who is leaving next year.
She became executive director of the WDC in 2014, following an overhaul of the organization’s structure. Her hiring marked the first time that a salaried administrator had headed the WDC since its inception in 2000.
Syvrud, who founded and headed her own Virginia-based consulting firm called Joia before taking the job, could not be reached for comment regarding the reasons for her departure.
In replacing Syvrud, the WDC said it is looking for someone with a minimum of 10 years of experience in an administrative role, with five of those in a senior management position.
General experience with extractives, commodities, manufacturing, specialty goods, manufacturing, retail or product supply chains is a plus, as is experience leading an international body and knowledge about corporate and social responsibility, voluntary commitments and the implementation of intergovernmental agreements.
“On behalf of the entire WDC, I would like to extend sincere gratitude to Ms. Syvrud for the work done,” WDC President Andrey Polyakov said. “Over the past two years, with her active involvement we have successfully reformed the WDC, turning it into a more efficient and sustainable organization, and built a solid foundation for its future.”
More details about the positon are available at WorldDiamondCouncil.org.
Interested candidates should submit a cover letter and resume no later than Dec. 12 to secretary@worlddiamondcouncil.org.
