Kiran Gems renews contract, wins award
Indian diamond manufacturer Kiran Gems renewed its contract with Alrosa at the World Diamond Conference just held in New Delhi.
Mumbai--Indian diamond manufacturer Kiran Gems renewed its contract with Alrosa at the World Diamond Conference just held in New Delhi.
With Kiran Gems Managing Director Mavji Patel and Director Dinesh Lakhani in attendance, Kiran inked a long-term supply agreement with the Russian diamond mining company at the conference, which took place Dec. 11 and 12.
Kiran Gems manufactured 5.3 million carats of rough diamonds in the past fiscal year, which it sourced from a number of the world’s major mining companies, including Alrosa. Alrosa is the world’s largest diamond producer in volume terms and No. 2 only to De Beers in value terms.
Kiran Gems said it has increased its manufacturing levels in the current fiscal year to meet customer demand. The company added that its manufacturing equipment is spread over more 1 million square feet of factory floor space in Surat and Ahmedabad. The renewed contract with Alrosa will allow it to further streamline its sourcing.
“We are happy to renew the contract with Alrosa,” Lakhani said. “Being a manufacturer of largest volume, consistent and ethical sourcing is core to us and Alrosa is a great sourcing partner.”
Prior to the conference, Kiran Gems received the Niryat Shree award for the fiscal years 2010-2011 and 2011-2012 from the Federation of Indian Export Organizations, or FIEO, an apex body of export promotion organizations in India.
In honor of this recognition, Indian President Shri Pranab Mukhrejee awarded Kiran with the silver trophy in the Gems & Jewellery-Non-MSME category at a FIEO-organized event held Dec. 1 in New Delhi.
Kiran Gems exported polished diamonds to more than 60 countries in the past fiscal year, including the United States. It is the number one exporter of cut and polished diamonds and diamond jewelry, and has been recognized as such by the Gems & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) of India for the past six years.
