Rogers Jewelry’s Eighth Location Continues a Local Legacy
The retailer is leasing the building in downtown San Luis Obispo, California once occupied by Kevin Main Jewelry Design & Studio.
San Luis Obispo, Calif.—When the doors closed on one well-known Southern California retailer, it opened an opportunity for another.
After 20 years in business, Kevin and Kathi Main of Kevin Main Jewelry Design & Studio closed their store in San Luis Obispo at the end of 2018, excited for the next stage in their lives—retirement.
Still, the two hoped another jewelry retailer, preferably a like-minded, family-owned jeweler, would take over the space and continue the legacy of serving their community.

Rogers Jewelry Co. saw it as a perfect fit.
The company is leasing the downtown building from the Mains and has opened a new store in the space, its eighth overall.
Founded in 1937, Rogers Jewelry is a family-owned and -operated business that currently employs one second-generation, two third-generation and three fourth-generation family members.
It has grown from a single store in Modesto, California to multiple locations across central California and Nevada.
Robert Marks, grandson of company founder Harry Marks, serves as president of the company. He also is the past president of the California Jewelers Association and the Leading Jewelers Guild.
Bart Marks, also a grandson of the founder, is the company’s California vice president and the CEO of the Nevada branch, as well as president and founder of Fire and Ice Diamonds.
Rogers Jewelry said it has rehired several of the Mains’ former staff, and the store carries many of the same jewelry brands such as A. Jaffe, Hearts On Fire, Fire and Ice, and Forevermark.
“Rogers Jewelry Co. is excited to open our newest location in beautiful and historic downtown San Luis Obispo. Our family-owned jewelry business has been helping customers for 82 years, and we’re proud to have become true partners and supporters in the communities we serve,” said Vice President of Sales Jason Reynolds.
“Rogers Jewelry Co. is known for providing the finest quality merchandise, sold and serviced by a dedicated staff of professionals, and we’re looking forward to continuing this tradition, serving the community and becoming its trusted jeweler for generations to come.”
