Maryland Jeweler Upgrades Store with New Location
DBS Fine Jewelers renovated its new St. Michaels store to feel more like an art gallery than a traditional jewelry store.
St. Michaels, Md.—Maryland jewelry store DBS Fine Jewelers has moved and, in the process, installed some major design upgrades.
Located in St. Michaels for more than 30 years, its new showroom is at the centrally located Talbot Street, close to the town’s restaurants and a prime area for foot traffic, owner Ada Leisure said in a news release.
Leisure said a combination of local craftspeople and friends and family helped in the store’s sophisticated renovation, overseen by contractor Kenneth Healy with interior design executed by Jacqueline Polland.
Design upgrades included refinishing the store’s original handmade-oak display cases in a modern matte black, updating an existing storage cabinet with a live-edge top, new carpet and window treatments, and floor-to-ceiling paint.
The new store’s unusual blue carpet complements one of the walls, which was painted a deep blue reminiscent of lapis lazuli, the release said.
The front windows feature new custom-made display cases mounted on polished black quartz and dichroic glass pendants to illuminate them.
Lush velvet seating, a geode side table, plants and artwork from Angie Crabtree and artist Mike Woodward provide an intimate, chic ambiance.
The new store boasts the feel of a gallery, more than a traditional jewelry store, with high spectrum LED lighting to compliment the space’s natural light.
DBS Fine Jewelers is located at 308 S. Talbot St.
