Kohl’s to open 24 hours a day beginning Dec. 20
Kohl’s Department Stores is upping the competition ante this holiday season by announcing that it will keep its doors open for more than 100 hours straight in late December.
Menomonee Falls, Wis.--Kohl’s Department Stores is upping the competition ante this holiday season by announcing that it will keep its doors open for more than 100 hours straight in late December.
Kohl’s said Thursday that it will keep its stores open for 24 hours a day, a first for the retailer, beginning at 6 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 20 through 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 24.
Kohl’s has 1,158 stores in 49 states. The company said the hours will apply to almost all of its locations in the United States, except in a handful of places where local ordinances prohibit them.
In addition to the extended hours, Kohl’s also is advertising a number of other customer conveniences for holiday shopping, such as a hassle-free return policy, gift cards and e-gift cards, and Kohl’s in-store kiosks that allow shoppers to order items that may not be available at stores, among others things.
In addition, the retailer has continued its “Dream Receipt” program this year, in which the company picks up the tab for one winner every day in every Kohl’s store and on Kohl’s.com from Black Friday to Christmas Eve.
“The holiday season is an eventful time for families, and Kohl’s is making it easy for shoppers to wrap up their last-minute gift giving with 24-hour access to Kohl’s stores right up to Christmas Eve,” said Michelle Gass, Kohl’s chief customer officer.
In a year when the holiday shopping season is as short as the calendar allows, Kohl’s was one of the retailers that opened its doors on Thanksgiving Day to start the Black Friday weekend earlier.
Other retailers that did so included J.C. Penney, Macy’s, Target, Sears and Kmart.
