Buffett to again don sales hat at Borsheims
Once again, investing magnate and Berkshire Hathaway Chairman Warren Buffett will step behind the Borsheims counter to sell jewelry to shareholders of his company.
Omaha, Neb.--Once again, investing magnate and Berkshire Hathaway Chairman Warren Buffett will step behind the Borsheims counter to sell jewelry to shareholders of his company.
This is the fourth consecutive year Buffett will don the salesperson hat at the store.
He’s earned the title of “Crazy Warren” for cutting jewelry prices so low. The 83-year-old billionaire, who ranks No. 4 on Forbes’ list of the world’s billionaires, stated in a letter sent to shareholders last Saturday that his pricing “gets even more ridiculous” as he gets older.
Buffett’s day at Borsheims, which is scheduled for May 4 this year, is part of Berkshire Hathaway’s shareholders’ weekend, which draws about 35,000 shareholders to Omaha.
Buffett will spend two hours behind the sales counter at Borsheims, helping shareholders purchase loose diamonds, pearl strands, watches, engagement rings and other jewelry.
“Borsheims is excited to have ‘Crazy Warren’ back again behind the sales counter. His natural charisma and wit make him an ideal sales associate and one that lives Borsheims’ vision of being part of the special moments of our customers’ lives,” said Adrienne Fay, director of marketing and advertising at Borsheims.
Borsheims said shareholders who want to meet with Buffett should get in touch with a salesperson at the jewelry store to select their purchase ahead of time. They can either visit Borsheims’ store in Regency Court or call 402-391-0400.
Shareholders should then tell the salesperson they’re interested in having their purchase finalized by Buffett, and mention the item is for an extra-special occasion. Borsheims said there is no minimum purchase to buy from Buffett.
