Female Suspect on Crime Spree in NY and VA, JSA Says
Police are looking for the woman involved in a number of attempted robberies last week.
New York--Police are looking for a female suspect involved in a number of attempted robberies last week across New York and Virginia, according to an alert from the Jewelers’ Security Alliance.
On Tuesday, Dec. 19 at 4:05 p.m., she entered a retail jewelry store in Manhattan and asked to see a high-end gold watch. After being presented with the watch, the suspect got up and ran out of the store with the piece.
Though a guard chased her outside and was able retrieve the watch, the suspect was able to flee the scene.
The following day--Wednesday, Dec. 20--dressed in some of the same clothing, the JSA said, the suspect entered a jewelry store in Richmond, Virginia and looked at the high-end watch case but quickly left the store without incident.
However, later in the day, again dressed in some of the same clothing, she used a gun to rob a Richmond bank. She handed the teller a note and displayed her handgun in her jacket pocket.
In its alert, the JSA described the suspect as a Hispanic female in her 20s, between 5 feet 4 inches tall and 5 feet 6 inches tall with a thin build.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Jewelers’ Security Alliance at 212-687-0328 or the Richmond FBI office at 804-261-1044.
