Philadelphia--Steven Singer, president and owner of the Philadelphia jewelry store that bears his name, will be the keynote speaker at Philadelphia University’s 132nd commencement.
The ceremony for the school, which is set to award diplomas to 636 undergraduate and 278 graduate students, will take place on Saturday. Singer is scheduled to address the graduate students at 2:30 p.m.
A Philadelphia-born and -raised entrepreneur, Singer and his store are well known for the “I Hate Steven Singer” marketing campaign. The campaign netted him two Philadelphia Advertising Club “Addy” awards, and he’s also won the Small Business Excellence Award and been named the Small Business Person of the Year by the Greater Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce.
According to a release from his store, the jeweler hopes to inspire new graduates to “trust their gut, never give up, and face adversity head on,” as “the path to success is often disguised with immense obstacles and wrong turns.”
