At least one jeweler should probably do more than just buy jewelry at Las Vegas Market Week this year.
New York jeweler Danny Yousefzadeh, 40, won first place and almost a half million dollars in a World Series of Poker Circuit Event at Caesars Palace in Atlantic City, N.J., last week! In addition to $488,828 and a gold ring, the Iranian-born owner of Princess Jewelers won a spot at the World Series of Poker Main Event thanks to a full house during a No Limit Texas Hold 'Em tournament. Players shelled out more than $5,000 each for a chance to participate in the event.
Bluff Magazine, a magazine for poker enthusiasts, reports that Yousefzadeh, the father of a two-month-old daughter, beat out a field of 314 players to win the three-day event, overcoming a chips deficit of more than two-to-one against his top opponent, whom he played for more than three hours before emerging victorious.
Yousefzadeh finished 181st in the World Series of Poker Main Event in 2005.
