Do men need help in the shopping department? A few new Web sites seem to suggest as much.

Groomgroove.com, an engagement and wedding Web site for men, tells a groom-to-be how to buy an engagement ring, propose with class and spot a quality diamond. Recently, it launched a new diamond engagement ring calculator. The groom enters his gross salary, and the tool calculates what tradition dictates he should spend on a diamond engagement ring.

For perpetually shopping-challenged men, Giftgirl.com can remedy the disability in full. The site features thousands of designer items women will love at a variety of price points, and offers tips on what makes a perfect gift, what not to give and ways to avert dodging potential shopping disasters.

Although the verdict is out on whether or not these sites will actually cure the non-shopping-man's affliction, the verdict is in on the ever-increasing trend of men's jewelry, which is becoming even more excessive than giant diamond studs. Take tie accents: Superfit offers them (see below) in platinum and in 18- or 14-karat yellow or white gold with pavé-set diamonds. Excessive, very. Fun, absolutely.
