NJ retailer sells $170K pink diamond
Corinne Jewelers celebrated its golden anniversary with what the store’s owner describes as a “once-in-a-lifetime” sale--a 1.64-carat radiant-cut pink diamond.
A private buyer paid $170,000 for the stone on Nov. 4, and the Toms River, N.J. jeweler is working with the longtime client to design a custom setting for the diamond.
“This was a once-in-a-lifetime sale, and it was certainly the biggest sale in our history,” said Corinne owner Ryan Blumenthal. “It was a thrill to sell that diamond and to work with the extraordinary clients who purchased it. Now we have the added pleasure of creating the perfect setting for it.”
This year marks Corinne’s 50th in business. Originally opened in 1964 by founder Mel Blumenthal, the store today is run by the third generation of the Blumenthal family. Corinne Jewelers is an American Gem Society store.
