Amanda’s Style File: August’s First Birthstone

Before spinel joined the August birthstone lineup, peridot reigned supreme.

Peridot is the OG birthstone for the month of August.

It is a vivid—nearly neon—stone that is bright and bold. The Egyptians referred to it as the “gem of the sun,” and the stone is worthy of that old moniker.

If your birthday falls in the month of August, you either grew up loving or hating your birthstone. Few people are impartial about it.

National Jeweler’s editor-in-chief, Michelle Graff, has a birthday this month, and she is quick to share her love of the stone.

The peridot jewelry I selected for this Amanda’s Style File will have many pledging their allegiance to #TeamPeridot.

Enjoy these magical peridot baubles, and stay tuned for an August Style File part two where I will explore the majesty of August’s newer birthstone, spinel.
