Harrisburg, N.Y.--A New York man who severely injured a Pennsylvania jeweler during a 2012 armed robbery was sentenced to life in prison Wednesday.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Pennsylvania said that Jesse Brewer, 41, received life plus 20 years after being convicted of robbery and firearms offenses.
According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, on the morning of July 12, 2012, Brewer, along with accomplices Jamell Smallwood and Timothy Forbes, robbed White Jewelers in York, Pa. of more than 50 Rolex watches valued at more than $500,000.
During the robbery, Brewer shot the owner of the store. The jeweler, who was 57 years old at the time, underwent surgery after being shot in the abdomen, shoulder/chest area and left arm and survived.
A jury found Brewer guilty in September.
Smallwood, meanwhile, is serving a 17-year sentence in federal prison for his role in the robbery.
The third man involved in the robbery, Forbes, 34, has pleaded guilty and is scheduled for sentencing on March 23.
