DEF, Forevermark partner for education program

New York--Forevermark and the Diamond Empowerment Fund are teaming up and launching the Forevermark Promise Scholars program this year, which will provide assistance to DEF’s educational beneficiaries in Africa.
The program is the result of a multi-year partnership between Forevermark, De Beers’ diamond brand, and DEF that was announced Thursday night during DEF’s third annual Good Awards in New York.
The Forevermark Promise Scholars program will support the academic journey of students at DEF’s three beneficiaries: the African Leadership Academy, the Botswana Top Achievers Program and CIDA City Campus.
The partnership also means that Forevermark joins DEF’s Empowerment Circle at the highest level, Infinity, a level reserved for companies that make major, multi-year contributions to the charity.
“With an aligned mission of bringing sustainable benefits to the people and communities in diamond-producing nations in Africa, our partnership with DEF will help us further deliver on our commitment to responsible sourcing,” Forevermark CEO Stephen Lussier said.
Forevermark was one of three companies recognized at last week’s Good Awards, joining JCK Events and Fred Meyer Jewelers as the 2014 Good Awards honorees.
Established by DEF to recognize companies for global leadership and making a positive difference in communities around the world, the Good Awards event takes place every January in New York, prior to the Gem Awards and the annual banquet of the 24 Karat Club of New York City.
