Indian Jewelers Set World Record for Most Diamonds in a Ring
The winning piece features 6,690 cut diamonds, breaking the record of 3,827 set in 2015.
Surat, India--Two Indian jewelers have broken the Guinness World Record for the most diamonds set in one ring.
The record, set by Vishal Agarwal and Khushbu Agarwal, is now 6,690 cut diamonds.
The stones are set in a lotus-shaped 18-karat rose gold ring featuring 48 individual petals, valued at more than $4.1 million and weighing just over 58 grams.
The previous record was set in 2015 by Savio Jewellery with its Peacock ring featuring 3,827 cut diamonds.
Vishal Agarwal created the design for the lotus ring, and Khushbu Agarwal, who owns Hanumant Diamonds, manufactured the piece. It took six months to design and craft.

According to Guinness World Records, the ring was inspired by the desire to raise awareness about the importance of water conservation, with the pair deciding on a lotus flower motif not only because it is the national flower of India but also because it depicts “the beauty growing in the water-world.”
“As fame is so much attached to a Guinness World Records title, we can put it to good use by bringing together like-minded people to work towards a beautiful world,” the two said in a joint statement.
