Since 1990, August has been named the month with the highest number of births more times than any other in the calendar year. So while you're sprinting out of the office on Summer Fridays, remember storks across America are working overtime.

It's a great month to restock your baby gifts section, and keepsakes with gems are popular for showers and first visits. Here are a few products/collections definitely worth inquiring about:

Shop 5th Avenue customizes pacifiers with three or more carats of the selected stone. Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie received a 17-karat white gold one with three carats of diamonds for daughter Shiloh. Unfortunately, the Web site doesn't offer information about retail sales.

Swarovski's First Steps collection features faceted crystal and rhodium-plated figurines, including a rocking horse, pram and pacifier.

The Birth Diamond from the BabyGund Collection offers 1/10-carat or 1/5-carat diamonds set in 14-karat gold signature bear-head logos on 12-inch chains. Matching necklaces are available for mom, too.

And, of course, consider any piece with peridot, the birthstone of August-born babies.
