‘Circle of Heaven’ Jadeite Bangle Could Sell for $12.8M
The “highly translucent” piece will lead Sotheby’s Magnificent Jewels and Jadeite sale in Hong Kong April 3.
Hong Kong--A “highly translucent” jadeite bangle is expected to be the top lot at Sotheby’s Hong Kong next month.
The rare piece, the highlight of the Magnificent Jewels and Jadeite sale scheduled for April 3, is expected to sell for $10.2 million to $12.8 million.
The bangle is described as having a full, emerald-green color with “fine texture.” It was named the “Circle of Heaven” not only for its circular form, representing the idea of unity, but also because jade has traditionally been though to be the “stone of heaven” in Chinese belief.
In addition to the bangle, the April sale also will feature classic period jewels, including a number of Art Deco pieces, as well as contemporary jewelry.
A 24.70-carat cushion-shaped Burmese ruby ring could sell for as much as $11.8 million.

Sotheby’s Hong Kong sale also will feature a curated collection of statement earrings called “Jewels for the Red Carpet.”
It was inspired by actress Ashley Judd’s look at the 2018 Golden Globes. She wore a pair of Martin Katz emerald and diamond pendant earrings, which will be included in the auction and are estimated to sell for as much as $256,000.
