Carole Le Bris Perez Shows Calder-Inspired Jewelry
The modern and contemporary art-centric jewelry designer picked a new muse for her latest collection.
Las Vegas--Carole Le Bris Perez is the contemporary artist’s jewelry designer.
After serving as muse for years to her husband, painter Enoc Perez, the sculptor-turned-jeweler established a fine jewelry line that took her husband’s work as inspiration, as well as that of other preeminent artists.
Perez’s latest collection, which she showed to buyers and press at the Couture trade show, is called “Alexander’s Mobile,” in tribute to American artist Alexander Calder.
“It’s inspired by the fluidity and the movement of Calder’s sculptures,” said Perez.
Perez’s playful aesthetic lends itself well to Calder’s organic shapes. The designer adds pops of color to the 14-karat yellow gold collection with splashes of bright enamel and colored gemstones; she also likes to intersperse tiny rubies throughout for good luck.
Alexander’s Mobile is at its finest in a mismatched gold earring with dangling, floating, free-form shapes dotted with enamel, sapphire and tourmaline and paired with a pearl stud. The style exemplifies the light-hearted whimsy Perez does so well.
Perez also showed a new collection inspired by Andy Warhol’s flower prints as well as additions to her past collections, which reference the work of Roy Lichtenstein, Jean-Michel Basquiat and her husband’s interpretation of Picasso’s cubist work.
