Vintage and antique jewelry styles are a hot trend for 2019, and New York City designer Ashley Zhang is one of its key players.

This Piece of the Week ring shows why.

It takes a Victorian-era style gypsy ring, in which one to three diamonds or gemstones are set nearly flush in a wide gold band, and updates the style through the selection and placement of the stones.

With a 2-carat Asscher-cut diamond set diagonally and two tapered baguette diamonds (0.5 carats total weight) flanking, its departure from a traditional gypsy ring’s simple old mine cuts makes it feel modern.

The engagement ring style is rendered in classic 18-karat yellow gold, retailing for $23,900 on Zhang’s website.
