In the news this week, the Gemological Institute of America announced that it is adding 63 “exceptional” mineral specimens to its collection and the Swiss Gemological Institute unveiled a “groundbreaking” GemTOF instrument in its facility to provide more information on gemstone origin.

Meanwhile, one retailer detailed his decision to close his jewelry store, Jewelers of America announced the host of the 2017 Gem Awards and the “Sky Blue Diamond” sold at the low end of its estimated range at Sotheby’s Geneva.
