AGS app lets users test their jewelry IQ
Available on the organization’s website, the app quizzes users about jewelry facts as well as its use in music and movies.
Las Vegas--Those looking for the chance to challenge their jewelry knowledge through quizzes, look no further: the American Gem Society’s new gamification app is here.
The gamification (gamification is the process of applying game mechanics, such as levels and timing, to non-game contexts such as a website) app, available on the AGS website, offers users five quizzes composed of various timed multiple-choice questions that are “fun yet challenging,” the AGS said.
The quizzes cover jewelry facts, celebrity and royal jewelry, and jewelry in music and movies.
A sample question from the quiz reads, “Diamonds aren’t the only stones that can cut glass. This unique stone, also the birthstone for October, is said to bring good fortune to those who wear it.” The answer choices are topaz, alexandrite, opal or amethyst.
Each quiz also awards various levels, from bronze to platinum.
AGS CEO Ruth Batson said the organization always is searching for new ways to engage and inform the consumer, and “Creating an enjoyable environment while promoting jewelry and gemstone interest assists in our effort to raise consumer awareness of the AGS and its credentialed jewelers.”
