Amanda’s Style File: Golden November Birthstones

November birthstones can spark deep discussion within the jewelry world.
November is one of the lucky months to have two wonderful birthstone options: citrine and topaz.
Citrine comes from the French word “citron,” which translates to lemon, and was named that for good reason.
When topaz was first discovered, it was found in the yellow form.
The two gems were believed to be easily confused and hence, they both landed on the list for the official birthstones for November.
The discussion and strong points-of-view come into play when discussing the other color of topaz as a suitable birthstone option.
Purists believe that blue topaz doesn’t have a place on the list while others believe that all topaz varieties should be embraced.
Honestly, to each their own. For the purposes of this Amanda’s Style File, the golden, citrus hues of citrine and topaz are going to have their time to shine.
