Found by a metal detectorist, the ring likely belonged to a wealthy, possibly royal, owner, said Noonans.
Scott Kay Inc. continues to add to sales team
The brand, now owned by manufacturer Frederick Goldman, has named Nick Pirie as the regional account executive for the East Coast.

New York--Scott Kay has made another appointment to build its new regional sales team, naming Nick Pirie as the East Coast regional account executive.
Pirie has extensive experience working closely and partnering with retailers to drive traffic and sales, including most recently leading Xvoke, a tech-driven experiential marketing agency that focuses on the jewelry industry.
Formerly, he served as the vice president and one of the original members of technology-based marketing firm SCVNGR, where he was vital in developing the Diamond Dash event concept for jewelry retailers. The Diamond Dash is a modern-day scavenger hunt that uses technology to share clues with participants.
Pirie is known for exploring new and innovative strategies within the industry, and his insights into the millennial bridal customer will be invaluable to Scott Kay, the company said.
“Nick adds additional excitement to our growing team,” said Joseph Green, senior vice president of sales. “He brings the perspective and experience of a dynamic marketer and a deep-rooted expertise working with retailers.”
Frederick Goldman acquired Scott Kay in February following the untimely death of the brand’s namesake in late 2014.
The manufacturer has been hiring new salespeople since the acquisition, with Pirie joining Bruce Lake and Cathy Marsh as recently hired regional account executives for Scott Kay.
While it is building a sales team, Frederick Goldman also confirmed last week that it has laid off a number of Scott Kay employees, saying that the plan from the beginning was for Frederick Goldman to eventually assume all production and manufacturing for the brand. The manufacturer, however, would not divulge how many people were let go or what positions they held.
