Gemesis grows largest, whitest diamond, again
Gemesis announced recently that it has produced an even bigger colorless lab-grown diamond: a 1.87-carat G color, SI1 clarity princess-cut stone.
New York--Gemesis announced recently that it has produced an even bigger colorless lab-grown diamond: a 1.78-carat G color, SI1 clarity princess-cut stone.
The International Gemological Institute (IGI) has classified the diamond as a type IIa and certified that it is the largest, whitest lab-grown diamond currently existing.
Gemesis said Tuesday that the stone already has sold. Information on the sale price was not available at press time.
Gemesis first created the largest, whitest lab-grown diamond in the world in April when it produced a 1.29-carat E color, VVS2 emerald-cut diamond, which it priced at $7,634.
Last month, the company introduced lab-grown pink diamonds to its website, available in solitaire rings and pendants in sizes ranging from 0.50 to 1.49 carats. The pink stones join Gemesis’ offerings of colorless and fancy yellow synthetic diamonds.
“We are delighted at the progress the lab-created category, and Gemesis in particular, has achieved. One of our ongoing goals at Gemesis is to continue to present high colors and quality with increased regularity to meet increasing consumer demand, and we are well on our way,” Gemesis management said.
