Piece of the Week: Robinson Pelham’s ‘Asteroid’ Ring
A blue sapphire takes the focus in a sea of gemstones, resulting in a trending tonal color story.
Some designers just have a way with color. Robinson Pelham is one of them.
Jewelers Vanessa Chilton, Zoe Benyon and Kate Pelham Burn formed the British brand in the 1990s, but it was only when they transitioned from creating bespoke pieces for private clients to setting foot into the retail world with their own London storefront in 2013 that they rose to prominence.
Since then, their knack for working with vividly-hued stones has placed them at the forefront of trends like rainbow-colored jewels, or the slightly more sophisticated but no-less-fun tonal jewelry trend (one to spot at the upcoming Las Vegas market week).
The latter look is on display in this aptly-named “Asteroid” ring, in which a bright, pastel-colored blue sapphire stands out in a sea of sapphires meticulously chosen to vary in shade for am ombre effect, surrounded with a double halo of white diamonds (as demonstrated in the picture below).
Rendered in 18-karat yellow gold, it retails for $15,470.
