Govberg Jewelers Hires Claudio Terjanian
The watch industry veteran has been appointed to the newly created role of director of retail to help facilitate Goveberg’s “Retail 3.0” luxury commerce strategy.
Bala Cynwyd, Pa.--Govberg Jewelers has named Claudio Terjanian to the newly created role of director of retail.
Terjanian reports directly to CEO Danny Govberg.
In his new role, Terjanian will be instrumental in “facilitating the company’s goal for the future of luxury commerce,” which Govberg has dubbed “Retail 3.0.”
The strategy brings together personal touch experiences with the digital space to provide a place for education, entertainment and personalized client service.
To help do this, Terjanian will host a streaming show, “Top Shelf Tuesday,” every Tuesday at 6 p.m. There, he will engage with clients and fellow watch enthusiasts while sharing a passion for high-end timepieces and the luxury experience with a growing audience.
Episodes of “Top Shelf Tuesdays” can be viewed on YouTube.
Claudio joins Govberg with more than 15 years of watch industry experience, including a seven-year tenure at the Franck Muller Group and eight years with Richemont as the director of sales for Roger Dubuis North America.
In these roles, he worked closely with Govberg Jewelers and other leading watch retailers, discerning watch collectors from around the world and professionals involved in all aspects of the watch category.
This experience gives him the ability to connect with clients, colleagues and industry management, given his understanding of the challenges of the modern brick-and-mortar environment and the opportunities that Govberg’s platform and network present, the retailer said.
“As an authority on watches, respected by both the industry and our extended Govberg network, Claudio embodies the energy, character and entrepreneurial spirit to blend the offline and digital Govberg experiences,” Govberg said. “We are thrilled to have him represent and lead our team.”
Founded in 1916, Govberg Jewelers now is one of the largest independent retailers for fine watches in North America, providing a wide selection of exclusive and limited-production luxury watches as well as a pre-owned inventory.
Govberg sells at its three flagship stores--in Philadelphia and Ardmore, Pennsylvania, and Cleveland, Ohio--as well as online.
The company also recently renovated its headquarters outside of Philadelphia, opening the space up and adding five-foot-tall ceilings as well as features that reflect its vision of tech-enabled luxury commerce, including a watch “trading floor.”
This week, Jewelers of America announced the 2018 Gem Award nominees and Govberg Jewelers is nominated in the "Retail Innovation" section, a new category recognizing businesses that are evolving along with the retail landscape.
